A new publication exploring the future of architecture, urbanism, and the built environment through parametric thinking was launched in Colombo alongside the CVU Colombo Forum 2026.
The Living Equation – Legacy of Parametric Architecture explores this transformation through a collection of visionary architectural projects of Archedium, explored by Japanese writer and architect Jumpei Shirai.
The book was launched as part of the CVU Colombo Forum 2026, organised by the Council on Vertical Urbanism Sri Lanka Chapter. Held on 24 July 2026 at Jasmine Hall, BMICH, Colombo, the forum brought together leading professionals and experts to examine the future of tall buildings and resilient cities.

In this context, the launch of The Living Equation carries particular significance. The book's exploration of parametric thinking provides a complementary perspective to the forum's discussion of resilience: how can architecture become more responsive, adaptive, and capable of evolving with the conditions around it?
Rather than viewing architecture as a static object, The Living Equation presents a vision of design as an interconnected system—where geometry, environment, technology, human behaviour, and performance can interact to generate new architectural possibilities.
The launch brought together architects, engineers, academics, designers, developers, and professionals from across the built environment, creating an opportunity to celebrate the publication while continuing the broader conversation about the future of architecture.
